Every piece of art in the release version of The Haunted Bookshop is made by a human artist.

How We Use AI Tools

We're a small indie studio trying to make the best of available tools while acting ethically and respecting other people's work - this matters to us.

During our creative development process we use generative tools alongside traditional methods: they help us build mood boards, kitbash visual concepts, and explore ideas quickly. We also do extensive real-world research of books and bookstores, because that's what good creative teams do.

In pre-release builds, we sometimes use mood board images as temporary placeholders (clearly marked as such), which get replaced by proper human-made assets as we create them. Each in-game book takes our art team approximately 20 hours to develop, sometimes more.

If you see it or hear it in the shipped game, a human made it.
